About
The Haven for the Girl GeekThis is an attempt to blog about things typically placed under the geek label from the female perspective. It’s also a change to disprove the idea that girl geeks are glasses wearing, frizzy haired unpretty women who hide from mirrors and don’t attempt to take any care of our appearance, but instead wait around for that handsome popular guy to come around and introduce us to our inner models.
about Bethie
I’m a geek, I will freely admit to it, I have geeks genes, but at the same time I like to wear pink, and have a secret obsession with fashion and makeup and like looking good while I beat you down in Super Smash Brothers or partaking in any number of amusing geeky activities. Conversely to this comes the perception that because I am girly and like the things of girlishness, I somehow cannot be a geek and interested in video games or manga, etc. As if the only way I would deign to touch a video game is at the behest of my boyfriend with much convincing.
I know I am not the only one who has come across the problem. This is a place to prove it wrong, to air our feelings and our views, and create a place for the voice of the girl geek, and hopefully somewhat of a helpful guide as to what we think is good out there. So we’ll be offering reviews of the latest things we’ve watched or played and offering general opinions on the state of things.
about Iseulde
Not to say I’m a super geek, but when I find out that I’m the only girl in my immediate vicinity (and that includes friends, family, and the whole entire department at school) who does not run away screaming at the thought of reaching into a computer to play around with stuff, it’s kind of hard not to be labled as geek. However, that does not say I do not enjoy some things many girls enjoy, like dolls, food, and a good manga or two. So, on top of being a geeky girl, I’m an otaku. Horray and hallelujah for that.
I’ve always been opinionated, and there are a lot of things out there to be opinionated about. So it comes not a surprise when Bethie mentioned about starting a blog that I jumped right in and sort of forced myself on her (in a good way, of course, so stop your perverse thoughts) to begin this project. I can be cynical and downright critical on some things, while generally being lay back on the others, but that’s the nature of an opinion. So expect a biased review on things from anime to electronics, and from food to cleaning supplies from me. Such wonderful world is a blog.
